Today saw an Apple event in Brooklyn. Here’s what was announced.

Apple Event October 2018 announcements Brooklyn Academy of Music Tim Cook

This morning brought an Apple event to the Howard Gilman Opera House at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Here are that event’s three main announcements (some of which have been a long time coming).

Radically redesigned iPad Pro.

Available in 11‑inch and 12.9‑inch models, iPad Pro has an all-new all‑screen design (including edge-to-edge display and no Home button!), a Liquid Retina display with ProMotion technology, an A12X Bionic chip, and Face ID. Apple also introduced a revised Apple Pencil and new Smart Keyboard Folio.

We are currently accepting pre-orders for new iPad Pro models, and expect delivery to begin November 7th.

Wait, what? They updated the Mac mini?

Completely redesigned with new eighth‑generation six‑core and quad‑core processors, high‑performance 2666MHz DDR4 memory up to 64GB, up to 2TB all‑flash storage, Thunderbolt 3 (USB‑C), HDMI 2.0, and available 10Gb Ethernet. Plus, check out its sleek new Space Gray color!

We are currently accepting pre-orders for new Mac mini models, and expect delivery to begin November 7th.

Meet the new MacBook Air, now with Retina display.

The new thinner and lighter MacBook Air features a 13.3‑inch Retina display, Touch ID, Thunderbolt 3 (USB‑C), the latest‑generation butterfly keyboard, and a Force Touch trackpad. And with an enclosure made with 100 percent recycled aluminum, Apple says it’s their greenest Mac ever.

We are currently accepting pre-orders for new MacBook Air models, and expect delivery to begin November 7th.

If you’d like to watch this morning’s Apple event keynote speech in its entirety, Apple has posted it to their website. It’s also available on Apple TV.

Connecting Point wins 1st Place in Best of the Best 2018 reader poll for 2nd year in a row

The Mail Tribune’s  Southern Oregon Best of the Best 2018 Reader’s Choice competition has ended, and Connecting Point again scored a big win! After the newspaper tallied results from thousands of individual voters, Connecting Point SERVICE emerged as 1st Place Winner in the Computer Services category. This marks our second win in a row!

At right, Service Manager Jason Kellogg and General Manager Jeff Thomas display the plaque we got for last year’s competition (which we’ll update with the new one as soon as we receive it). Kudos to them, and to the great team of technicians doing fine work in our Service Department. And many thanks to all the fine folks who voted for us – you’ve given us a lot to live up to (again)! We will do everything we can to maintain the high level of service that won us this prestigious award.
