Today is the day. Back on February 26th, Apple sent members of the press invitations to an event they termed ‘Spring forward.’ This Daylight Saving Time wordplay almost certainly hints the event will involve the Apple Watch. Later this morning (at 10am PDT), the lights will go down in the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco, and we’ll find out exactly what it’s all about. You can watch the event live online at this link.
To view the livestream, you’ll need to have version 5.1.10 or later of Apple’s Safari browser on your Mac, or Safari on iOS 6.0 or later on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. You can also stream it through your second or third generation Apple TV, provided it has software version 6.2 or later. If you don’t have any of these options available, here’s a workaround that’ll let you stream it on Windows PCs and Android devices.
Here are a few links to media outlets’ live event coverage:

More and more creative people are discovering what an amazing filmmaking tool the iPad is. Its built-in camera is astonishingly good, able to capture 1080p video with remarkable clarity. And its screen acts as a superb, gigantic viewfinder. With a few additional accessories and apps, you can produce professional-quality film and video.
Connecting Point is your local, independent Apple Specialist. Come see what an iPad can unlock for you.
Heed the ancient warning: Do not use fingers on a touchscreen on Friday the 13th! Bad luck! Bad, bad luck.
(You’ve heard that one, right? Everyone’s heard that one. It’s well documented. Somewhere.)
To that end, we present this week’s Deal: A half-dozen colorful stylus pens, normally selling for 30 bucks, on sale for a superstitiously low $9.99. It even includes a couple of nifty lanyards, to keep that stylus within easy reach at all times.
And these are universal styli, compatible with virtually any touchscreen, be it on your iPad, iPhone, iPod, Android device, whatevs. They’ve got super-gentle rubber tips, so your screen surface stays glassy-smooth. And colors. These colors! You’ll be able to accessorize a stylus with any wardrobe choices you can come up with.
In short, these are cool. These are cheap. And these will likely go fast. So grab a different kind of six-pack for the weekend, before they’re gone, gone gone.
UPDATED 02.06.15: HELD OVER! This DOTW will continue this week (while supplies last).

Excellent news for businesses: President Obama approved the extension of Section 179 to 2013 levels (as part of a larger tax extensions bill).
So what does that mean? Just this: Business owners will be able to deduct up to $500,000 worth of qualifying equipment and property* that were bought (or financed) and put to use in their business during 2014. That means you still have time to purchase new (or pre-owned) Macs, PCs, printers, all-in-ones, or iOS devices from Connecting Point and receive this deduction. Connecting Point can even deliver and install the new equipment for you.
*Many types of equipment and property qualify for the Section 179 tax deduction. Consult with your accountant or other trusted tax advisor to discover if the equipment you are considering is eligible.
