Connecting Point Computer Centers, the area’s only locally-owned, independent Apple retailer and services provider, is pleased to announce Apple has awarded us its Premium Service Provider designation. This accolade is given to an elite tier of Apple Authorized Service Providers in recognition of their unparalleled commitment to technical excellence and customer service. According to Apple, “Premium Service Providers consistently deliver exceptional repair support and customer experience that meet Apple’s exacting standard for high-quality repair and prompt service.”
Connecting Point traces its roots back to the pre-personal computer era. Founded in 1975 by Bob Howell and current owner and CEO Rick Mandell, Connecting Point began as a small stereo store. Later, the business expanded to embrace electronic parts, video gear, and even CB radios. But a turning point occurred in 1977, when Connecting Point – then part of the Minneapolis-based franchise TEAM Electronics – became one of the earliest retailers for the new, groundbreaking Apple II personal computer.
Today, Connecting Point is proud to sell, service, and provide unparalleled support for every product in the Apple line – including Mac, iPhone, iPad, and iPod. As one of just over a hundred Premium Service Providers in all of North America – that’s only 18% of the total number of Apple Service Providers – you can rest assured your Apple service will be performed by one of the oldest, most experienced, and accredited Apple service centers in the world.
This minute-and-a-half video kicks off ‘Change Everything,’ a new marketing direction for Apple. It ties in with a new website of the same name, featuring individual spots and pages that explore in greater detail the themes and directions mentioned in the video above: cooking, learning, small business, travel, and redecorating.
Just a hair over a half-inch thick (at its thickest point). Just a smidge over two pounds.
It can only be the all-new Apple MacBook. With its groundbreaking new ultra-slim design, razor-sharp Retina display and innovative USB-C multi-purpose port, the new MacBook is unlike any other notebook. It’s the lightest, most compact Mac notebook ever. It even comes in three different colors: Silver, Space Gray (shown) and Gold. We move one giant step closer to “cutting the cord” with the introduction of HBO Now, a standalone subscription to the premium cable channel’s highly coveted selection of original series (including the white-hot ‘Game of Thrones,’ Season 5 of which premieres this Sunday, April 12th), movies, comedy specials, documentaries, special events, and talk shows. Unlike HBO Go, a similar service that required a subscription to HBO via your satellite or cable provider, this one is entirely standalone. All you need is a decent broadband Internet connection (or, in the case of iOS devices, at least a 3G cellular signal). Subscriptions are $14.99 per month, and the first month is free for new subscribers.
With your HBO Now subscription, you’ll be able to watch programming on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac. And with an Apple TV, you’ll be able to watch it on your HDTV. But that’s only one reason to get an one: Apple TV gives you access to the biggest names in entertainment, in up to 1080p HD. Just plug it in and enjoy a whole world of movies, TV shows, sports, music, and more. And you can show anything that’s on your iOS device or Mac on your HDTV with AirPlay.
Dig a little deeper into Apple TV here, or stop by Connecting Point this week to pick our brains. And if you don’t already own an Apple TV, there’s never been a better time to buy. Apple just slashed its price by $30, making Apple TV the best $69 you’ll ever spend on entertainment!
Today is the day. Back on February 26th, Apple sent members of the press invitations to an event they termed ‘Spring forward.’ This Daylight Saving Time wordplay almost certainly hints the event will involve the Apple Watch. Later this morning (at 10am PDT), the lights will go down in the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco, and we’ll find out exactly what it’s all about. You can watch the event live online at this link.
To view the livestream, you’ll need to have version 5.1.10 or later of Apple’s Safari browser on your Mac, or Safari on iOS 6.0 or later on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. You can also stream it through your second or third generation Apple TV, provided it has software version 6.2 or later. If you don’t have any of these options available, here’s a workaround that’ll let you stream it on Windows PCs and Android devices.
