A number of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users are reporting issues with their devices after updating to iOS 8.0.1. Specifically, they have been experiencing loss of cellular service and/or the ability to use Touch ID. Until Apple releases iOS 8.0.2 “in the next few days,” which fixes the issue, they have posted a workaround on the Apple support site:
“We have a workaround for you if you have an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus and you lost cellular service and Touch ID functionality today after updating to iOS 8.0.1. You can reinstall iOS 8 through iTunes by following the instructions below. We are also preparing iOS 8.0.2 with a fix for the issue, and will release it as soon as it’s ready in the next few days.
Earbuds and headphones are wonderful for private listening, but sometimes you want an audio experience that’s a bit more…communal.
Maybe you want to share some music out on the deck with the family. Or listen to some tunes at the campground or your favorite fishing hole. You probably already own a darned good music source—your smartphone or tablet or iPod touch. All you need is a simple, affordable, space-saving way to unleash your playlist.
And that’s where our fine selection of Bluetooth speakers comes in.
No wires, no cords, no hassles, no sweat. Pair your device to one of these speakers in just seconds, and you’re in business. And this week, business is good: Pick your favorite Bluetooth speaker, and take 25% off its already very reasonable price.
But you’ll need to act quickly: This offer is limited to stock on hand, so the earlier you come in, the better the selection. Find out more about our latest Deal of the Weekhere.

In a departure from recent events, Apple will be streaming this morning’s big news live from the Flint Center in Cupertino, beginning at 10am PT / 1pm ET. (NOTE: Live stream requires Apple’s Safari browser. Also available on the Apple Events channel on Apple TV.) Apple is rumored to be introducing a new iPhone (or two?), and possibly a companion wearable device many sites are referring to as the iWatch. But truth be told, outside of Apple’s inner circle, no one knows for sure what will happen. Even though Connecting Point is an Apple Specialist, and has a relationship with Apple stretching back over three decades, we’re as in the dark as everyone else about the true nature of this event.
A number of leading tech and news sites will be live blogging this event:
With Labor Day weekend wrapping up, people are hitting the mall and other retail shops for some last minute back-to-school shopping. Randa Gore, reporter for Medford’s KDRV Newswatch 12, is at Connecting Point with the story.
“Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.” — From the U.S. Department of Labor website. And here’s a non-official version that offers another perspective on the holiday and its history. (Thanks to Henry M. for the link.)
