by Postmaster General | Apr 19, 2013 | Deal of the Week, Gaming
It’s Friday – and the weekend beckons.
Wouldn’t it be cool to have a bunch of new PC games to try out? And wouldn’t it be even cooler if these game collections came on a reusable 2GB USB flash drive, so you can install it on computers without an optical drive (like netbooks and ultrabooks)?
And wouldn’t it be cool if you could pick up these game packs for less than five bucks? Heck, that’s a great price for a completely blank 2GB flash drive. So even if you find you don’t care for a single one of the games, just erase it and use it for other stuff. Because flash drives? Always handy.
We’re not playing games here – grab these while you can for an amazing $4.99 apiece. Find out the nitty gritty details here.

by Postmaster General | Apr 12, 2013 | Apple Inc., Deal of the Week, iOS Devices
That single charger and cable that came with your iPhone or iPod? Not enough.
For one thing, it doesn’t help when you’re in the car. This kit fixes that. Now you can charge your iOS device anywhere there’s a 12V DC outlet.
Keep the original charger at home, and this one at the office – or maybe next to your favorite chair in the living room. Because there’s never a good time to run out of battery charge.
Works with iPhones and iPods using the 30-pin dock connector (iPhone 3, 3GS, 4GS and last-generation and earlier iPods). Not compatible with iPad or any iOS devices using 8-pin Lightning connectors. Get the full story here.

We’ve been doing this whole Deal of the Week thing for a while now. And a lot of the bargains we’ve featured have been on cables, chargers, docks, and adapter sets that work with older-model iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches.
Apple is gradually moving its iOS devices away from the venerable 30-pin connector to the 8-pin Lightning connector.
If you’ve been waiting for a deal on a Lightning cable – something that will actually work with your sleek and sexy iPhone 5 – then this week’s DOTW is for you.
Get all the details here.

We live in an age of constant surveillance.
It feels like no matter where you go – road intersections, convenience stores, highway passes, retail storefronts, warehouses, banks – there’s a camera pointed at you. And the big search engines have cam-planes flying overhead and cam-cars rolling down our streets, snapping photos of… well, everything. It’s not paranoia when somebody really is watching your every move.
Well, now you can strike back – with your very own surveillance camera, one that can connect over Wi-Fi or Ethernet to your computer, even if that computer is halfway around the world. Because this particular video camera has its own web server built into it, meaning it can route a video feed to computers connected to your local area network (LAN) – or across the Internet itself.
Best of all, it costs only 40 bucks. Find out all about it here.

The ashland independent film festival is five days of the highest-quality independent film, held in historic Ashland, Oregon. The Washington Post called it “a dream you’ll never want to leave.” Every spring, Southern Oregon buzzes with the excitement of the AIFF. Over 7000 film lovers gather at the historic art-deco Varsity Theatre, in the heart of downtown Ashland, to watch over 80 films in five days. Filmmakers of the documentaries, features and shorts come from around the world come to engage with the audience after each screening and at the festival’s Opening Night Bash and Award Celebration parties with local wine, beer and gourmet food. Special guests have included Helen Hunt, Albert Maysles, Bruce Campbell and more. The film festival is one of the reasons Ashland is included in the popular travel guide A Thousand Places to See Before You Die.
This year Connecting Point is proud to be, for the first time, a sponsor, providing iMac computers and a wireless printer for the festival’s Hospitality Suite. We urge you to support the thriving arts community in our area. Visit the AIFF’s website to see the rich variety of films being presented at this year’s festival.
