Bring new, unwrapped toys in for ‘Toys for Tots’ (or use the ones we have)

The Marine Corps Toys for Tots Program collects new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distributes those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in our community.

Connecting Point has a Toys for Tots collection box, and to make it especially easy to help, we’ve even picked out a table full of suggested toys. Pick any one, and for $5, we’ll add it to the box! We invite you to contribute to this fine cause and help disadvantaged kids in the Rogue Valley. When you’re out shopping for toys for your own friends and children, take a moment to think of those kids less fortunate.

The collection box will be in place until Thursday, December 13th. Gifts will be distributed to local kids on Friday the 14th and Saturday the 15th.

VIDEO: New iPhone 5s ad, ‘Parenthood,’ hints at future Apple smart home initiatives

A new 60-second TV commercial spotlighting the iPhone 5s, Parenthood, was posted by Apple last Sunday. In it, parents are shown using their iPhones to teach kids how to brush their teeth, as well as using it as a baby monitor, to find a lost pet, and to turn down the room lights. This dovetails neatly with Apple’s recent announcements surrounding HomeKit, a platform for smart home devices.

It also happens to be a clever, warm and engaging piece of advertising.
