Connecting Point a sponsor of 12th ashland independent film festival (AIFF) | April 4-8, 2013

12th ashland independent film festival - April 4-8, 2013The ashland independent film festival is five days of the highest-quality independent film, held in historic Ashland, Oregon. The Washington Post called it “a dream you’ll never want to leave.” Every spring, Southern Oregon buzzes with the excitement of the AIFF. Over 7000 film lovers gather at the historic art-deco Varsity Theatre, in the heart of downtown Ashland, to watch over 80 films in five days. Filmmakers of the documentaries, features and shorts come from around the world come to engage with the audience after each screening and at the festival’s Opening Night Bash and Award Celebration parties with local wine, beer and gourmet food. Special guests have included Helen Hunt, Albert Maysles, Bruce Campbell and more. The film festival is one of the reasons Ashland is included in the popular travel guide A Thousand Places to See Before You Die.

This year Connecting Point is proud to be, for the first time, a sponsor, providing iMac computers and a wireless printer for the festival’s Hospitality Suite. We urge you to support the thriving arts community in our area. Visit the AIFF’s website to see the rich variety of films being presented at this year’s festival.

Apple iMac 21.5in and 27 inch models

All four iMac models are in stock at Connecting Point.

Since their introduction last fall, Apple’s stunning, ultra-slim iMac family has been in extremely short supply. Right now, if you wanted to order a 21.5-inch iMac from the Apple’s online store, you’d see this:

Even worse, if you wanted a sleek new 27-inch iMac, here’s how long you’d have to wait:

27-inch iMac availability from Apple Store

Miraculously, if you came into either of Connecting Point’s store locations for one of the new iMacs, you’d walk out the door with one right now. As in, immediately.

We’ve got plentiful stock of all four main models, ready for a good home. (Or office.) The product is identical, the price is the same. And the service and support you get from Connecting Point is not only excellent, it’s also free…and for life. So give in to that very human need for instant gratification: Get a new iMac, instantly, from your local Apple Specialist, Connecting Point Computer Centers.

UPDATE 02.20.13 | 12:30 PM: Well, that happened fast. Our Bend store now has only the $1299.99 model 21.5-inch iMac and the $1799.99 27-inch iMac in stock. We are expecting shipments of the other two models to be arriving shortly.

UPDATE 03.03.13 | 12:55 PM: Looks like Apple’s online store is finally catching up with iMac demand. Both sizes appear to be shipping within one to three days. But if we may again point out the obvious: the price is the same, the tech support is for life – and you can have it right here, right now by getting your new iMac from the friendly folks at Connecting Point.

New 27-inch iMacs in stock at Medford store

Apple iMac 27-inch slim side viewAt last, the drought is over – at least temporarily.

Our Medford store just received a pallet of 27-inch iMacs. Yes, these are the ever-elusive new slimline models. They are not quite “stock” iMacs, the main difference being they come with a full-sized, wired Apple extended keyboard (with full-sized function keys and a numeric keypad) in place of the usual Apple Wireless Keyboard.

SPECIFICATIONS

  • 3.2GHz Intel Core i5 quad core processor
  • 27-inch widescreen IPS display (2560 x 1440 pixels native resolution)
  • 8GB DDR3  SDRAM
  • One terabyte SATA hard drive (7200 RPM)
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX graphics with 1GB dedicated GDDR5 video memory
  • Apple Magic Mouse (wireless)
  • Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad (wired)

We’ve filled our customer backorders – many of them dating back to October – and still have over a dozen of these iMacs in stock. We expect they won’t be around long, so if you have been looking for one, please let us know.

CORRECTION: When this description was originally posted, it incorrectly identified the processor as an Intel Core i7, instead of a Core i5. We apologize for the error.

Whoa…full day for Apple at yesterday’s “a little more to show you” media event.

It looks like the pundits and the rumor sites got it mostly right.

Yesterday, Apple announced a Shrinky Dinked addition to their tablet family, the iPad mini (7.9-inch 1024 x 768 display versus the original’s 9.7-inch one, making for a pencil-thin form factor you can hold in one hand).

Apple also announced a new version of the 13-inch MacBook Pro, this time with a 2560 x 1600 Retina display. And they previewed a Kate Moss-thin revamp of the iMac (say goodbye to built-in SuperDrive, and hello to faster Intel Core quad-core processors, Thunderbolt, and an innovative hybrid storage system Apple calls Fusion Drive).
