Happy Mother’s Day, everyone! Here’s a warmhearted short, shot entirely on Google Glass. It was created by alumni and students from the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts, as part of the Google Creative Collective. (Mashable has a nice article on how it was made here.)

It is basic human nature to seek connection.
Connection between father and son, between mother and daughter, between siblings. Connection with your soul mate. Connection with friends and co-workers. Connection between artist and audience.
And connection between a couple of electronic gadgets.

Your widescreen TV almost certainly has HDMI ports. Many new notebooks (as well as more and more desktop systems) feature HDMI. And usually, HDMI cables don’t come cheap. You can expect to spend $20, $30 or more for a decent six-foot male-to-male HDMI cable. But this week, we’re selling an excellent 10-foot-long HDMI cable for less than four bucks.

Give our troops a movie night.
Demonstrate your support for our brave men and women in uniform. Bring in any DVDs you can spare to Connecting Point’s Medford location. We’ve partnered with Charter Media, History, and other local businesses to collect DVDs from now through December to send to our troops abroad. Even children’s titles are welcome – they’ll be distributed to servicemen’s and servicewomen’s families, right here in the US.
Protecting our country can be alternately ultra-dangerous and ultra-boring. Downtime in remote parts of the world can be really tedious, and the entertainment options limited. That movie on DVD you donate can help make the time pass a little more enjoyably.
